BD 6 million Hospital hailed as symbol of Indo-Bahraini business co-operation

Minister of Health H.E. Mr. Sadiq Al Shehabi today inaugurated the Royal Bahrain Hospital located in Salmaniya. The BD 6 million medical care project is a joint collaboration between the KIMS Group and Bahraini investors and is seen as part of the growing corporate footprint of Indian companies in Bahrain.
 
Congratulating the KIMS Group, Mr. Al Shehabi said the presence of the facilities such as Royal Bahrain Hospital helped to raise the bar for health care delivery in Bahrain and tap India’s well-known expertise in the sector. He added that the leadership and government of the Kingdom of Bahrain would extend fullest co-operation to private sector players in the healthcare field and would encourage the setting up of medical units in areas other that Manama as part of the widening of the healthcare map.
 
“We have started work on two primary medical centers in Barbar and in Isa Town – the government is keen to develop a synergy between private and public sector to reach modern and top-class Medicare to every part of Bahrain,” the Minister said.

The inauguration included an official ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a tour of the hospital for the attendees. The hospital’s infrastructure consists of state-of-the-art equipment’s, with integrated software and run on the latest technologies procured from all over the world. It has the only operational sleep lab in the kingdom, advanced laser technology for cosmetic surgery, 16-slice CT Scan, 4-D Ultrasound machine and also offers fetal medicine treatment.
 
“We first entered the GCC with our KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre in Umm Al Hassam and are delighted to have reached this next stage in expansion,” said Dr. Sahadulla, the Chairman of Royal Bahrain Hospital and KIMS group.
 
Mr. Ahmed Jawahery, President of Royal Bahrain Hospital, stated that “Royal Bahrain Hospital is a six million dinar project promoted by Bahraini and Indian businessmen and has been conferred aspecial Indo-Bahraini project status by the Economic Development Board (EDB). The hospital has been designed, equipped and staffed to create a paradigm shift in the medical service provision landscape of Bahrain, and it has been doing that in the past eighteen months, and will continue to do so.”
 
“Since our opening, we’ve had nearly 65,000 patient visits to our hospital for consultations, treatments and check-ups. We’re also proud that around 1400 surgeries have been successfully performed many of them major surgeries such as knee and hip replacements, and bariatric surgeries. We strive to get the best medical talent from all over the world.” States Dr. Abdul Gaffar, renowned surgeon and Medical Director at Royal Bahrain Hospital. “Additionally, we’re extremely happy with the patient profile which is represented from all walks of life from around 90 nationalities!”
 
Royal Bahrain Hospital is the KIMS group’s second venture in Bahrain following the success of KIMS Bahrain Medical Center (KBMC) and the sixth project of the group in the GCC. The group’s flagship hospital is the 650 beds quaternary care hospital, the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) located in Trivandrum, India. The group has presence in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar besides Bahrain and is looking at expanding with more units in the region.
