Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Asia’s leading tertiary care hospital, is establishing a state-of-the art cancer care facility – KIMS Pinnacle Comprehensive Cancer Center in association with a reputed health care organization based in the United States. The facility aims to provide high-quality cancer care including preventive, medical, surgical and radiation oncology by using latest technology and treatment protocols. The key areas of cancer care will include:

The medical oncology unit is already functional under the leadership of Dr. Jayaprakash Madhavan and facilitates chemotherapy treatment. 

The Oncology Center will be providing treatment with the State of the Art Radiation Oncology equipment, Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy as per the latest developments and protocols in the United States.   Medical Oncology will be using the latest treatment according to national and international protocols.

In Radiation Oncology KIMS will have two Linear Accelerators with Image Guided External Irradiation, Brachytherapy, Steriotactic Radiosurgery and Hypertherma.  Breast Centre will provide screening for early diagnosis using mammogram and ultrasound and will conduct programme for both medical personnel as well as public awareness.  The Gynaecological Oncology will focus on pap smears for prevention and early diagnosis of cervical cancer as well as combined modality approach for the treatment of cancer cervix, uterus and ovary.

These types of equipment are yet to be installed in any of the centers in Kerala.  In addition, there will be constant exchange and training programme of technology and medical personnel between KIMS Pinnacle Comprehensive Cancer Centre and major Cancer Centers in USA.
